AT&T Says F*** You and Your “Unlimited” Data!!

by on Jun.02, 2010, under General

So, on Sunday evening our dog, Roxy, ran away. We were panicked and freaked out and I felt like shit since I was the one who had left her outside in the first place. Anyway, we do the whole walk around shouting thing followed by the put up fliers routine. Honestly, Mrs. Mike and I both thought it was a lost cause; we do not live in an area conducive to a 10lb lost Shih-Tzu’s survival. Monday passes in a blur of despair with little to no rest. Tuesday is back to work and missing the hell out of my dog. Well, someone found her and she was alive and well. Apparently, Roxy had wandered into a super busy street where she was apprehended by a streetwalker of the crackhead variety. Obviously a cracked out “lady of the night” walking around with a dog is a bit iffy, so when a citizen inquired about the scenario, said crackhead channeled her inner entrepreneur and “sold” my dog to the man and his kids for $20. Luckily, the dude who “bought” Roxy wasn’t some sick freak or anything, and when he found our flyer the return of our dog commenced. Shit was crazy stressful, and I’m glad to have her back to her mean-ass self.

Now, you may be wondering if I’ve got any actual news for you today; you know, the kind dealing with gadgets or geeks or the world of tech. As a matter of fact, I do, so chill the eff out son! There’s been a ton of noise recently about phone carriers making changes to their data plans in order to combat the bandwidth smartphone users eat up by the truckload. It looks like AT&T took one giant leap into that frontier today by announcing they were killing their Unlimited Data Plans for smartphones. The new “tiered” system gives users the option of $15 per month for 200MB of data, or $25 for 2GB. You’ll be able to switch plans on the fly without a new contract once you figure out that the Michael Buble CD you went all Jack Sparrow on was almost 1Gig. But, how do you pirate on your phone? By using the tethering option they are offering for an additional $20 per month. Yeah, it’s kind of expensive, but those of you already in the smartphone pool can be grandfathered in with their unlimited plans, so sign up while you can.

Today’s lesson in hip-hop is brought to you by Ice Cube, The Legendary Roots Crew, and Jimmy Fallon. You know, Fallon is kind of douchey, but he gets the best music on late night. The other night Ice Cube was a guest and went into a reprieve of “Today Was A Good Day” with The Roots providing the melodies. Shit was ridiculously bonkers. Enjoy, and stay thirsty my friends.
